Single Review - Heart Of Gold - Caitlin Krisko And The Broadcast

Give me a raunchy guitar and a sassy vocal and I’m yours. And this band certainly got me hooked from the opening bars of their new single Heart Of Gold.

I must admit I’d never heard of them, but was so impressed with them that I did some

research, and there is a plethora of their material on You Tube, and they have been going for a good ten years if not more.

Obviously led by Caitlin Krisko, a lady with a powerful voice, which is where the name

Broadcast came from – she feels like she is projecting far and wide with her voice, and I

would say she bang on with that assessment. Her voice is like a controlled Janis Joplin, or

even Elkie Brooks when she was with Vinegar Joe, in fact their sound isn’t a million miles

away from Vinegar Joe’s. They rock n soul like early 70’s meets 2025, every song grabs you and holds you like a long lost lover.

This single Heart Of Gold is full on rock and raunch, but don’t start thinking this is where they are at. They go through a whole gamut of styles including soul, and slow blues, and they pull each twist and turn off with style and aplomb.

The band comprises of Caitlin on vocals, Aaron Austin Guitar, William Seymour Bass and

Michael W Davis on drums, and a great tight drummer too, who is economical on the

cymbals, which I love. That’s not to say the other two musicians aren’t very accomplished

musicians. The three of them gel symbiotically.

Please check this band and single out, and hopefully they will grace these shores before toolong. I did see they are playing a one off date on 30th November at Planet Rockstock in Mid Glamorgan.
